1. Kata Beach
Kata Beach holds the distinction of being the birthplace of Phuket surfing. As one of the most sought-after spots on the island, it is undoubtedly the ideal place to start your surfing journey. The best surfing experience can be found at the southern end of the beach. This spot may get crowded at times, but the atmosphere stays cheerful. At the beach, you’ll find a range of amenities including surf schools, surf bars, restaurants, rental shops, and stores where you can purchase your own equipment. There are also superb hotels to stay by the beach or nearby to make comfortable your vacation.
2. Kata Noi Beach
Kata Noi beach is just south of the major sister Kata Beach, where you can find powerful and high waves. The headlands offer thrilling point breaks for experienced surfers, but the limited beach size means fewer surfing spots. You should bring your own stuff because you will not find rental school and rental shops on the beach. Despite that, you will find 2 exclusive beachfront hotels to stay: Katathani Phuket Beach Resort and the Shore by Katathani Resort.
3. Karon Beach
Located north of Kata, Karon Beach is the longest beach for surfing in Phuket. The waves are powerful and higher than the other beaches. The beach is suitable for experienced surfers, and the wave heights can reach easily up to two meters. It might seem strange, but despite being the longest beach, there are just a few stations where you can rent a surf board. You can surf anywhere, but the best surfing spot is in the south.
4. Nai Harn Beach
Nai Harn Beach is another superb location for surfing in Phuket. During the low season this fantastic beach offers powerful waves especially in the southern ends, which is great for intermediate and higher-level surfers.
