Nai Yang Beach ⛱️ in Phuket ✅
Nai Yang Beach near Phuket International Airport
Nai Yang beach is a fantastic Phuket beach located in the north-west of the island just close to the Phuket International Airport. The sandy beach is very wide and long in a curved shape bay. This area of Nai Yang is part of the Sirinath National Park divided into three zones. The northern part is a protected area located within the National Park. The central part of the beach there are some hotels, shops, Thai and International restaurants and bars, which is the most popular part by tourists of course.
While the southern area remains unknown and little visited because it is an area that has remained intact by nature. Being a beach far from Phuket’s most popular beaches, such as the beaches of Kata, Karon, Patong and Kamala, Nai Yang beach remains quiet throughout the year. This relatively quiet beach is mainly frequented by returning tourists and little by new tourists perhaps because it remains far from the road, as indeed are the other beaches north of Phuket. Like as the longest Mai Khao beach, a deserted Sai Kaew beach and Haad Pak Pra an unknown beach which is located in the northern end of Phuket.
What to do & beach activities on Nai Yang Beach
Most tourists love the central part of the beach because there are umbrellas and beach chairs for only 100 Baht. Additionally, there is also a free shower, very useful for refreshing yourself or for washing from the annoying sea salt. This is great because, in most of the beaches of Phuket there is no shower!
During the day, people love to relax in areas shaded by tall casuarina trees present throughout the beach. In the afternoon it is also possible to take a small horse ride on the shoreline of Nai Yang with only 300 Baht per hour. Kids really like it so don’t hesitate and don’t forget to take some photos.
The beach is very wide and flat so, you can easily play football, volleyball, even frisbee with friends without disturbing those who relax on the beach chairs. Rent a canoe or paddle board and take a ride in the bay. It is relaxing and fun, and from the sea you will have a unique view towards the whole beach.
In the northern part of Nai Yang beach, exactly after the point there is a small bay with crystal clear water and a shallow seabed perfect for snorkeling. Don’t wait, get a mask and go snorkeling, it’s worth it! While swimming or sitting under the trees of this beautiful and quiet bay, you can also see planes landing from the seaside.
Behind, you will find the Sirinath National Park with many trees and a beautiful, well-kept and clean green lawn. As Sirinath National Park is located next to Nai Yang beach, local people love to spend their weekends relaxing and picnicking with lots of spicy food and drink.
Please note: be careful not to enter on the lawn with motorcycles or cars as it is a protected area otherwise you will be sanctioned by the local police. To enter the Park there is a tax to pay, 10 Baht per person plus 60 Baht for the car but sometimes the price changes and it is never understood on what basis! Local people often come to the park for running or doing exercises, especially in the afternoon.
If you want to take a nice walk to explore a nice place, I recommend you to go to the southern end of the beach. From Nai Yang beach you can see a small islet that almost nobody knows the name, and that’s exactly where you have to go. Well, Pling is the name of the islet, now you know the name and you just have to explore this truly intact area. This is one of my favorite spot to photograph sunsets during low tide.
There is very little to see in the inner area of Nai Yang but I will list 2 places to visit. If you want, you can visit the Nai Yang temple, Wat Mongkol Wararam, which is located not far from the beach. A few steps from the temple there is the open-air market which opens in the afternoon 3 days a week. There are many products on display, from souvenirs to clothes, from tropical fruit to Thai food at a very low prices. Furthermore, shopping in this market can be fun and have a unique experience!
Location: 48 Thepkrasattri-Nai Yang Road, Sakhu, Thalang, Phuket 83110, Thailand
Open: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 12pm to 7pm
In the evening the area where there are bars and restaurants remain very quiet. There is the possibility of staying in some bars longer but not until late. This only during the high season of course. If you want to have fun you should rent a taxi and go to dinner at Patong beach and continue the evening on the famous Bangla Road right in the heart of nightlife! If you have time and you wish to explore another beach, you should visit a beautiful Naithon beach. This beautiful beach is located less than 15 minutes by driving south from Nai Yang beach.
During the low season, Nai Yang beach remains very quiet but some activities remain open all-year round. In this season there is a Kite Boarding Asia Phuket school, whether you are beginner, intermediate or advanced which is possible to rent their equipment. Kitesurfing lovers flock to this beach hit by the winds from the west. This is an ideal bay for training and practicing Kitesurfing by darting along the water without causing any danger to bathers because they are not there. In this season the sea is rough, but not so much because the bay remains protected by the coral reef that is located right in front of the Sirinath Natural Park.

Where to eat on Nai Yang Beach
On the road that runs along Nai Yang beach there are many street vendors preparing their classic Thai dishes, fruit smoothies and some desserts at very low prices. Often these freshly dishes have better flavors than the restaurant. Try the classic Fried Rice seafood, barbecue prawns or steamed crabs with sweet-sour sauce. They are delicious! During the day, you will find tables as usual located under the trees of the Thai restaurants overlooking the beach ready to sit. Having lunch with a sea view is very pleasant and who would not want to do it since you are on vacation!
Just before the sunset around 5 p.m. you will notice a drastic change. Dozens and dozens of plastic tables and chairs are placed on the beach for a Happy Hour and for the subsequent romantic candlelit dinner. During the sunset, the staff of various restaurants will begin to light the candles, the decoration lights accompanied by live music creating a truly romantic atmosphere. This is a holiday and don’t miss this unique moment! In my opinion this is the best place in Phuket to dine on the free beach. Try it for yourself!
Black Ginger restaurant
If you want to dine in a truly unique place, I recommend this modern masterpiece of Thai art, Black Ginger restaurant. Black Ginger which is located inside The Slate Phuket resort, is one of the best Thai restaurants in Phuket!
